| Born and raised in Sonoma County, California, Karen recalls her fond memories of learning to cook in a Chinese kitchen. Preparing traditional Chinese New Year's treats and making cut-out cookies alongside her mother and twin sister is where Karen's love of baking began. In 1999, a twist of fate brought her to the doorstep of Marco Polo Catering (Marco Moreira and Joann Makovitzky, of Tocqueville fame). It was while working here that Karen was inspired to combine her culinary and artistic passions using the iced cookie as her medium. |
